We’ve just released PRS 8.0.6. Version 8.0.6 adds new vacancy publication fields and new fields to the Mail Data format. Plus we’ve fixed a number of little niggles — see the November 2011 newsletter for more details.

03-Nov-2008: PRS 7.1.0 Released

We’ve just released PRS Client version 7.1.0. Heading the list of new features is the Goto List, it keeps track of your most recently visited records (Personnel, Sites, Vacancies, Timesheets, Mail messages) so you can return at the click of a mouse button.

07-Aug-2008: PRS 7.0.9 Released

We’ve just released PRS Client version 7.0.9. This release consolidates the 7.0.8a, 7.0.8b and 7.0.8c updates and adds a number of new additions and changes (plus the usual bug fixes).

16-Apr-2008: PRS 7.0.8 Released

We’ve just released PRS Client version 7.0.8 with a long list enhancements and bug fixes which adds up to a significant PRS release.

04-Feb-2008: PRS 7.0.7 Released

We’ve just released PRS client version 7.0.7:

You can now use Markdown conventions to format HTML EMail message bodies when emailing from the PRS and to format Long and Short Vacancy Descriptions in published HTML vacancy pages (see the February 2008 Newsletter for details.
The Year To Date consultant billings report now accepts an arbitrary start month (previously the start month was fixed at April).

10-Dec-2007: PRS 7.0.6 Released

Lots of new stuff in this release, here are some highlights:

HTML formatted emails.
Integrated Skype landline, mobile and SMS support.
Export PRS data to Microsoft Outlook.

12-Sep-2007: PRS 7.0.5 Released

The big news is that we’ve completely rewritten the PRS Document Search Tool’s full-text search engine (DocIndexer) — incremental indexing is now supported and the the indexing and search performance has been significantly enhanced.

20-Aug-2007: PRS 7.0.4a Released

This release contains a couple of minor additions and bug fixes.

6-Aug-2007: PRS 7.0.4 Released

This release includes a lot of new stuff, the most significant is that the PRS is now compatible with with Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
The PRS now comes bundled with it’s own spell checker — this resolves the Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility issue highlighted in our May newsletter

There are also a number minor new features and some bug fixes.

22-May-2007: PRS 7.0.3 Released

The release includes features for Note archive management — of interest to sites with large numbers (hundreds of thousands) of notes. The Document Manager can now handle HTML and MHTML documents which is useful when you need to mail-drop HTML formatted E-mails (see the May PRS newsletter for a step-by-step guide).

There are also a number minor new features and some bug fixes.

26-March-2007: PRS 7.0.2 Released

Mainly additions to the new version 7 notes system:

We have added a full text search option for Notes.
The administrator can now set a Note type is mandatory option to make the user enter a note type when creating a new note.

21-Dec-2006: PRS 7.0.1 Released

The 7.0.1 release follows the major 7.0.0 release, it’s mainly to fix some minor 7.0.0 bugs but also introduces new Tagset management features plus an XML vacancy file export format. See the changelog for a full list of the changes since the last release.

30-Nov-2006: PRS 7.0.0 Released

This major release introduces two significant new features:

An enhanced record based notes system replaces the old Personnel, Sites, Vacancies and Invoices note fields.
You can set any person, site, vacancy or invoice as a Favorite for instant access via the floating Favorites form (just press the F8 key to bring up the Favorites form).

25-Sep-2006: PRS 6.0.9 Released

This release includes an updated Document Indexer and fixes a Skills Merge bug.

14-Aug-2006: PRS 6.0.8 Released

This release includes some new features along with some bug fixes including:

The Vacancy form Find command now has the option to search by vacancy location.
The Vacancy form Find command now includes the vacancy’s published industry when searching (previously only included related site’s industry).
Long SMS messages (up to 459 characters) are now supported. This option is enabled in the SMS Setup dialog (Tools→Setup→SMS Messaging).
The Client Setup Wizard now has an option to disable opportunistic locking.

04-Jul-2006: PRS 6.0.7 Released

This release adds over two dozen additions and changes along with some bug fixes.

Most of the changes are relatively minor, the most significant being the addition of a Letter command to the Invoices form for printing invoice related form letters.

This release adds over two dozen additions and changes and fixes a couple of bugs.

27-Jul-2005: PRS 6.0.5a Released

This release fixes a Document Indexer bug introduced in version 6.0.5. If you have 6.0.5 installed and you get any of the following error messages you should upgrade:

"Unable to open document parsers" when scanning a linked document or email message.
"Unable to open document search index" when running the PRS Document Indexer.

This bug fix is the only change in this release.

20-Jun-2005: PRS 6.0.5 Released

This release adds some new features and squashes a number rare bugs.

You can now find Personnel based on your last contact (Notes entry) date — great for keeping up those client contacts.

The Document Search Tool has a new Word query search type allowing words to be combined with must contain and must not contain criteria (see the Document Search Types section in the PRS online help for details).

30-Mar-2005: PRS 6.0.4 Released

In addition to bug fixes and a number of minor enhancements the big news with this release is significant performance enhancements when navigating between vacancies and vacancies activities — especially if you have large numbers of activity records.

1-Jan-2005: PRS 6.0.3 Documentation Update

A 6.0.3 update has been released.

This update restores images that were missed from some of the manuals in the PRS Help menu.

The update adds no other changes to the previous 20-Dec-2004 6.0.3 release.

This release includes a number of new features and enhancements including bulk SMS, new document skill scan modes and a much faster documents indexer.

23-Sep-2004: WinXP Service Pack 2

We have successfully tested the PRS running on Windows XP Service Pack 2. Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 should not present any PRS related problems.

It’s worth noting the Windows XP Service Pack 2 installs the latest Windows XP Jet database engine service pack (Jet 4.0 MS04-014).

18-Aug-2004: WinXP Service Pack 2

Please be aware that although Microsoft have released WinXP Service Pack 2, it has not yet been tested with the PRS.

We advise you refrain from installing WinXP SP2 until we have completed testing.

Install Service Pack 2 at your own risk at this stage.

26-Jul-2004: PRS 6.0.2 Released

This release is the culmination of the previous 6.0.1b interim release which introduced document templating. The emphasis in this release has been on smoothing rough edges and squashing minor bugs — this release contains many small enhancements and fixes a number of minor annoyances and bugs.

Our new PRS SMS technology was featured in an article in the June 21 edition of InfoTech Weekly.

28-Apr-2004: PRS 6.0.1a Released

Fixed error that sometimes occurred when using the Personnel Find command. This is the only change since release 6.0.1.

20-Apr-2004: PRS 6.0.1 Released

In this update a Show top matches option has been added to the Skills Search and Skills Match dialogs. Publication Options now include an option to automatically execute an external command after vacancy publication (for example, a Website upload script). The rest of the update consists of minor enhancements and bug fixes.

This minor update adds a couple more fields to the mail merge data source and fixes a potential mail merge problem that was tripping some users up.

03-Oct-2003: PRS 5.0.7 Released

The methods: Document Indexer has now been officially integrated into the PRS. We have open-sourced the Document Indexer’s core technology which is hosted at the SourceForge and on the methods: website (http://www.methods.co.nz/docindexer/).

The four PRS on-line help manuals have been merged into a single searchable on-line help.

Another noteworthy addition includes a PRSMon option for the enforcement of a site wide shared Documents Folder.

The Client Setup Wizard has grown a little in size as we’ve moved all the help and the PRS Monitor program from the PRS Data Setup Wizard, this ensure installed PRS clients are always in sync with the documentation and the monitor program.

Bug fixes include the resolution of a couple of document linking problems.

17-Sep-2003: PRS 5.0.6b Released

This minor update fixes the false Invalid mail address message with some outgoing mail addresses.

The update also includes a pre-release of a built-in document indexer for high speed document searches. This pre-release feature is for use by those who are unable to use Microsoft’s Find Fast or Indexing Service and need fast integrated document searching tool (the changelog contains preliminary documentation on how to enable the document indexer).

01-Sep-2003: PRS 5.0.6 Released

The big news in this release is the addition of the InBox Tool, a fully integrated email InBox for the capture and management of incoming mail (requires Microsoft Outlook 2000 or greater).

You can now create a Personnel record, save and link mail attachments, run the Skills Scanner and process job applications directly from incoming mail messages.

Other additions include the ability to split the notes fields, a Size to Full Screen menu command and a fully customizable Candidate Summary report.

19-Aug-2003: Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 7 (SP7)

Currently we do not recommend installation of the newer Jet SP7 as as it has not been fully tested with the PRS.

30-Jun-2003: PRS 5.0.5 Released: This release includes a number of fairly minor additions plus quite a bit of polishing to smooth off some rough edges (see the full changelog for details). We anticipate that this will be the last version 5 release and are switching our development efforts to version 6.

25-Oct-2001: PRS 3.4.2 Released: The big news with this release is that we have expanded the set of vacancy activity actions. This change flows through to vacancy activity reports and the Resumes (now Activity) command on the Personnel form.
